Hello everyone, it’s Glasses-Kun here. How’s life going for you?
Good/happy? Then cheers.
Bad/bored/alright? Try something new, and it might turn out to be an unexpected stimulation you’ve been searching for. Positive mindset is pivotal. Also try smiling. It helps to produce serotonin, A.K.A. Happy Hormone. Nico Nico Ni~
And as you can see, Glasses-Kun is still alive. And he is feeling pretty accomplished as a translator! My apology for the lack of my usual humbleness/composure; I wasn’t trying to come across as cocky. I hope for your kind understanding, as this uncharacteristic elevation stems from the fact that I finally got to be the official translator of the three series that I’ve been targeting, ever since I joined the scanlation community in the middle of June. These three projects are Real Account, Prison Lab and
All of them are psychological mangas that each have interesting quirks/concepts to offer.
Real Account: Social Media, Online Connections, Vice and Virtues of Internet and more.
Prison Lab: Bullying, Self-contempt(you will see more of this in the future chapters), different types of strength and more.
Tomodachi Game: Friendship, Money, Deception, Scam and more.
Until recently, as you all probably know, I was translating two of these three: Real Account and Prison Lab. However, I finally managed to get my final piece! Tomodachi Game~ Woho!
I succeeded in picking up Tomodachi Game At Last. I will be doing this series with MZ, so please look forward to it. I will be hoping for your kind support on my this new TL project of mine. If you enjoy Prison Lab and Real Account, I would highly recommend this series. This will not disappoint you. I promise this in the name of Glasses-Kun.
Glasses-Kun Level Up:
Speaking of my username ‘Glasses-Kun’, I want to share about what was going on in my mind when I chose this username. Just a bit. Around June, I was contemplating what username would be suitable for a long-run. And the followings are what determined my current username:
-A male side character with Glasses in my first TL Project (Hajimete No Gal) turned out to be an observant dark horse who saved MC and his romantic relationship with his girlfriend. This nice contribution from a character, who nobody absolutely cared about or expected anything from, was kind of refreshing. An underdog story is always nice. Also, his support was never noticed by the MC, and I thought this case of underappreciation drew a nice parallel to translators in our scanlation community
-A youtuber DouchebagChocolat. He’s inactive now. But his videos were G. His video from 3 years ago titled ‘Underappreciated glasses-kun’ was pretty funny, so I just went with Glasses-Kun. The name is pretty generic, but I was like…eh, why not.
So imagine how caught off guard I was, when I saw my twitter account and my posts under that same youtube video. This was a pleasant surprise, and I would like to express my thanks to you—dear readers—once again. If it weren’t for your patronage, this kind of experience would not have been possible. So thank you.
Who knows? Maybe from now on, whenever you see a character/person with glasses, you might think of Glasses-Kun. And that would be pretty cool.
Life in Soda Scan:
If you have a question or just want to casually chat, feel free to join the Discord Group Chat for Soda Scan here https://discord.gg/8fcRaQg (making an account takes less than a min). I’m active there most of the time. *Edit: Soda Scan wordpress blog
It seems our leader Coke is planning to pick up a few new projects in the upcoming future, so please free to join the discord chat and voice your suggestion. We need to get some more golden works under our wings. It’s been about two weeks since my last post/article about joining a scanlation group, and I managed to successfully recruit a few people for soda scans(+readers in discord chat). So cheers. Now, the group’s staff number is large enough to rival that of Fallen Angel Scans—a prominent scanlation group that handles Boku No Hero Academia, Shokugeki no Soma, Haikyu, Trinity Seven, Plunderer and more. In terms of overall project quality wise, I think Soda Scan is doing pretty great for a relatively new group.
If you are a fan of Real Account/Tomodachi game/Prison Lab (the projects I am translating), please feel free to check out my another project—Perfect Classroom—for Soda Scan. I would recommend it to the readers who enjoy psychological stuffs. This work is maddening. I will say this first though; it’s a webtoon, not a manga.
It is a work that has received 2015 Global Rookie Project Award. The story goes somewhat like this: “Two siblings who have brought several secrets along with themselves. With these two as the center of attention, the class gradually begins to change.” It is one of Soda Scan’s golden eggs
Now then, with all that out of the way, Let’s get to our TL Projects Update:
