Hello everyone, it’s Glasses-Kun. How’s life going over there on your side?
After my previous article about my gratitude towards under-appreciated people in our translation community, several individuals messaged me questions on MAL, discord and twitter. Most of them wanted to learn more about the roles I’ve previously discussed (Typesetters+cleaners). Among a wide spectrum of questions I’ve received, there was one common question that came up frequently. As expected, it was “Where do I start?”
And Here is my answer—Find and join a group.
It is fine even if you never had any experience with the two roles. Just try to find a group that has working ethics, environments and projects that match your interests and needs. Don’t feel discouraged if one group doesn’t accept you(as unlikely as that may be. Many groups tend to accept and teach new members). There are countless scanlation groups out there, so I can assure you that you will eventually find one community that you will be able to identify yourself with. Cute, peaceful, neutral, casual, perverted, toxic, cancerous, or cynical one. You name it; it will be there somewhere on internet. And if you come to feel uncomfortable with the group or its deadline schedule, just feel free to migrate. There are many people out there who would be willing to accept you and appreciate you. You can easily get help with learning how to be a typesetter/cleaner after joining a group. However, only you can decide for yourself whether you want to take a step into this community.
All you need is curiosity.
This alone is more than enough, and this statement applies to more than just joining scanlation community.
For those who are interested, Soda Scan is currently recruiting typesetters and cleaners, regardless of whether they have experience or not. One of the members is willing to share all of her knowledge, so feel free to drop by if you have any interest in learning how to be a typesetter/cleaner.

If I were to describe this group with one word, it would be ‘bubbly’. It was the first group I joined, and I am still a member of it. If you want to just chat or ask questions about stuffs, feel free to drop by.
For Soda Scan, I am currently translating a webtoon titled ‘Perfect Classroom’. It is a work that has received 2015 Global Rookie Project Award. The story goes somewhat like this: “Two siblings who have brought several secrets along with themselves. With these two as the center of attention, the class gradually begins to change.”
That aside, special thanks to Kuuo from Soda Scan who kindly helped me out with cleaning pages for HnG special Chapter. He(I think?) stayed up for 1.5-2hrs last night to clean them all. If it weren’t for this collaboration with Kuuo, I wouldn’t have been able to translate them. So it would be cool of you if you just send him a thanks message on discord.
Another Special Thanks to Mai—Alaitheen of Mangazuki team(one of the Top 3 Honchos) for having given me the permission to translate HnG. If it weren’t for him, this wouldn’t have been possible so cheers to him. Please continue to read HnG on Mangazuki and express your kind support there, rather than on aggregation sites please(for those who don’t know what I’m referring to, please check my article here).
Speaking of Mai-Alaitheen, I will likely be translating another project for Mangazuki along with this cool bro of mine. It’s a horror+thrill+psychological webtoon titled ‘Another Secret’. So I have two projects for Mangazuki now(including in Prison Lab)
Yay~! Rank Promotion I suppose~ I haven’t read the webtoon yet, but the premise seems promising. Maybe even enough to rival ‘Perfect Classroom’.
This is what Alaitheen sent me:
I hope for your kind support.
Then, let’s get back to gyaru~
